Life, Under Layers

This morning, while walking through Aix-en-Provence — a city I love deeply — I saw this flower.

No soil. No garden. No ideal conditions.

Just the asphalt, and an old stone wall — and life insisting nonetheless.

The most modest of flowers finds a way to bloom on a sidewalk.

Not through effort. By nature.

Because it still possessed a spark of energy.

And energy — even a small spark — is a potential for change.

It did not wait for the right moment. It did not seek the right environment. It used what it had — that tiny spark — to open up. And that opening gave it access to opportunities it could never have anticipated from beneath the asphalt.

20 years spent in organizations have taught me one thing — the most accomplished professionals often carry within them this same vitality, buried under layers of performance, expectations, and well-played roles.

It has not disappeared. It is waiting.

What is missing is not a new strategy. It is not one more plan.

It is a moment of carefree abandon—that return to oneself, light and without judgment, where one finally dares to follow that spark. Where one allows oneself to bloom, even where the environment seems hostile.

Because energy creates movement. And movement opens possibilities one would never have dared to imagine.

When did you last make a decision that came entirely from you?

If you no longer remember — let's talk.
